In many organisations, there are situations where many sub divisions or offices are placed at a site where there is no direct or physical contact. In such cases, the term “remote computer” comes into picture. A computer, which is located at a particulat place and does not have direct contact but the computer can be accessed through a local computer via some form of network usually internet, is called as “remote computer”. In this case the remote computer is not located at the same physical site of the local computer with which it has to work with.
There are two terminologis, server and client. In this case, the remote computer will serve as server for all the local computer and the local computer is called as the client or the host. In many of the organisations which are very big in nature this is highly imposible to keep each and every data on all computers. There are many disadvantages of this situation. With this the information may be lost and will slow down the computer etc. For this purpose, a remote computer can be used.
In the case of a remote computer, all data is kept at one centralised location and access to the central computer is given to all concerned employees. In this case, it is also possible to give limited access to the employee. This will improve the security of your information. As you are using the remote computer, you can have a very big capacity server or remote computer and comparatively small capacity PCs as clients in the whole organization. This will help you to keep all data at a central place and use the same whenever required.
With the use of remote computer technology, you can work from anywhere in the world. As you can connect to the remote computer from anywhere using internet, you can get the required work done. Using new advanced software you can access the remote computer, with very much ease, from a local computer as if you are sitting in front of the remote computer or server.
To get access to the remote computer from a local computer, you first need to get connected to the remote computer. If you are connecting for first time to the remote computer then the computer will provide you a host public key. This key is used always for identifying the remote computer to which you want to connect. Once the connection with the remote computer is established then you are free to access the data and the information stored in the computer or the server. Using this technology you can transfer any type of file from your local computer to the remote computer or from remote computer to the local computer
